Instagram has been on everyone’s mind this week – being sold for $1,000,000,000 will do that for you.
But even before Facebook decided Instagram was worth a billion dollars, it’s been a bit controversial. On the one hand, you can make eye-catching images from snapshots with almost no effort. On the other hand, it takes almost no effort to make eye-catching images. Where’s the fun in making something so interesting so easily?
Our take: Instagram is one more tool in a long line of ways to (maybe) enhance images. It’s no more an evil or a panacea than any of the other digital (or chemical) tools photographers have been using since this whole photography fad started.
And if you can create an image that says something to you, or that will remind you of a time and place, why not?
That said, here are two snapshots we ‘Instagramed” this afternoon (with very little effort).
